'Sales presenter' secured £7 million of DCLG funding

Situation

• Despite the Forestry Commission successfully creating hundreds of hectares of Green Infrastructure (GI) within the Thames Gateway area, its reputation in this specialised development field was minimal.

Response

• VA proposed asserting the Client's GI/greenspace credentials by creating a distinctive 'GI brand' and impressively presenting it.
• To specifically attract the OPDM (now the DCLG) at a Thames Gateway GI conference a special 'sales brochure' in the guise of a 140pp training handbook was written, 40 copies printed and presented, backed by an exhibition display and a PPT presentation.

Results

• When the Client formally met with the DCLG in 2005 the Forestry Commission’s GI brand was fully understood.

Value Added

As a direct result of the credible awareness created by the 'sales presenter'/handbook, the awarding of £7 million of funding in 2005 for creating further GI in Thames Gateway proved to be almost a formality.
